Heroes

I have often told my kids that a hero is someone who feels fear but does what needs to be done anyway. I know we can all think of people like that. We see them at the fire station, in police cars, in hospitals and on their way to war. Today I was watching my daughters’ soccer games and at the first one I met a little girl who has cystic fibrosis. Her aunt told me that she had had a port in her arm twice. The little girl showed me where and I told her that I thought she was very brave. Puts you in your place right away. Daily I find examples of who I want to be, of how brave I want to be and of how very lucky I am.

This child showed me bravery yet again. True bravery because she knows no other way. There is no other way to go through this if I wish to be a good example to my kids. I wish to be a good example of how we handle what life throws us. How we get up and move along and face the day and love our kids and rejoice in all things great and small that make this such a good life.
