Truthfully in the last few years there have been many with a clear view into my insides..with all the surgeries it is not hard to see how this came about. Way back in the beginning off all this medical folder all I had an ultrasound. One that showed nothing out of the ordinary even though I had a rather large tumor. Today I saw that ultrasound. I don’t know what I thought. That I might actually see the tumor now that we know it was there at the time. Or that it would be blank. What I saw was quite interesting for all of you who may have heard the words “dense breasts” from your doctor. It means, in my case, that what I saw on the ultrasound was a mass of white strings, like spiderwebs, crisscrossing the breast. It looked like a crazy map and , yes you might say that that particular spot was “denser” or maybe not from anothe view. So really it was completely inconclusive and today I saw why.
You might ask why today? I have had two infections since January so I went to have ultrasound to see if there was anything there. There wasn’t. So I probably get to stop the antibiotics and go on with life.
I have to say finally seeing that us from 2009 was fascinating. People will tell you to get copies of everything and see everything. I saw everything but I don’t think this computed in my mind at all. I was so confused at that point so who knows? But now I see the confusion and difficulty in being absolute. And I see why people could have tests that lead to surgeries that may or may not be necessary.
I would rather have skipped the whole, ” you have cancer part.” But if I had just accepted the ultrasound and mammogram as the end all be all I would be dead or stage four. So I am grateful that I pushed on til I got an answer to what the lump was in my chest. I am grateful my doctor wasn’t easily satisfied.
