It’s October and I am #AWARE And #Amazed BCA months

About a year ago I started back to yoga. I wanted to get back to what it had always given me and I wanted to move more into meditation. So I went back to class. Sometimes a teacher will suggest setting an intention for the class. Sometimes I set the intention for staying in the moment or for peace for someone going through a hard time. Today, Oct 1, was different. After two weeks of setting my intention for others and for friends who needed peace and acceptance I set it for me. See, I was looking at pictures and while I am strong now I am also heavier than I would like to be. I am still within the bounds of what is healthy but I want to be back to what is normal for me. I was headed that way earlier this year but got off track as we all do. Today, the 1st of Oct brings me once again to Breast Cancer Awareness month–believe me I am aware. I look at it as a new beginning. My cancer free date is Oct 9, 2009 so I am coming up on a new year and the time of recommitments.  Today, instead of continuing to think about what I wish I had been doing I decided to be AMAZED. My intention for class was to be Amazed by what I could do.

I really committed to yoga when I was pregnant 18 years ago. I was amazed then at all I could do with this giant belly growing a child. I felt strong and centered and proud of the positions I could put myself in and relax in to. So today, 5 years , 11 months and 21 days after my diagnosis I am amazed at what I can do. I can commit to my own health. I can do yoga, despite the multiple(5) surgeries I have had to my chest, despite the stiff hands and wrists and other assorted things from chemo I am amazed. I am also amazing and I am not afraid to say it. 6 years ago I had no idea what was ahead.  I got through all of it thanks to my family, friends and faith. My attitude has stood me in good stead though we all falter sometimes I manage to set myself right again. That is, indeed, the most important thing, picking yourself up and moving forward.

Here are some #TBT images from Montana in June..taken by Larry Stanley who gave of his time and his talent to record some wonderful images for each of us.

below is a pic of me laughing with Charlie the horse who shows up in Yoga class in the blog post Spirit Guide from Montana.
