National Novel Writing Month.

National Novel Writing Month

It happens every November. Are you in or out?

I am not officially doing it this year due to this, one time only never to be repeated(I hope), math class! But I am going to keep track of my word count and keep things moving forward in my books.

Nevertheless, I will be here to support you in your efforts.

In honor of you and all writers like you at the beginning of December I will be releasing my Character Creation Workshop with some new content and a facebook live. Feel free to facebook, twitter, instagram of email me with questions!

In Nov/Dec I will begin a writers workshop in my home for a small group of writers and am contemplating inviting you to come along for a facebook live in the new year.

What is your first step in success for NaNoWriMo?

You know what I am going to say, “WRITE” just write. Don’t worry about spelling though make sure you understand it. Leave punctuation rules at the door, again, make sure you understand it. Just move ahead to the end.

Reading Louis L’Amour’s Lost Treasures it is interesting to read my brother’s memories of our life as a family.

I was three years younger so he remembers more and different things. He really remembers Dad’s work schedule of getting up at 5:30 writing, eating breakfast with us kids and reading aloud at the table whatever he was reading. Then working until lunch or an afternoon appointment, working out at 3pm, back to writing until dinner and after dinner back at it again. Sounds like a lot right? Well, that is how you end up publishing a lot of books.

Every day of the year. Every year of his life. That was his schedule.

I can’t do that. First of all I am a mom and a wife. Maybe I need a wife to get all the wife/mom stuff done so I can write!

What I can do is recommit every day.

Every morning I sit down and write something.

I am taking math now and for the foreseeable future I will be taking a class but I think none of them will challenge me the way this one does. I have to work in the morning first thing.  Each module takes about 18 hours of work and I can do that as long as I get up and go in the morning. Then my reward is a cup of coffee or tea and a few pages of my novel or a blog post.

For those of you willing and ready to take the challenge here is the website to sign up for NaNoWriMo is HERE. And if you want my help come visit me HERE.
