EIF Revlon RunWalk year 5

A pic from last year
On Saturday I will walk in the Revlon walk again. This is the 5th time for me. I chose to do this walk five years ago for several reasons. It was a goal I set for myself as it was two months to the day after my final chemo and because it helped to fund one of my life saving medications, Herceptin. Each year it is a marker for me and each year I am grateful to be standing at the start and walking with my family and friends and everyone else who fights for the end to women’s cancers and all cancers. In the past year I have had two more friends diagnosed and treated and last week a dear friend of mine lost her fight just weeks before her 51st birthday after fighting metastatic cancer for four years. We are too young. Anyone is too young but I am continually struck by the fact that something grandmothers got while I was a kid has become something mothers get while I’m a mom. Parenting at any time is a challenge and a joy but especially through cancer.
If you feel strongly and if you want to do so something my heart goes to two groups. Getintouchfoundation.org for teaching breast self exam to girls grades 5-12 and to revlonrunwalk.org for research and support of smaller groups doing good things, amazing things. I hope I will see an end to cancer in my lifetime, in the meantime I will do my best to do what I can. Join me and walk or donate or just reach out to someone who needs a hand while fighting to save their life.
Thanks.
