Pray for the Waiting Ones

I became aware on Tuesday of a friend waiting to hear results. At this moment she doesn’t know what the lump in her breast may mean. In Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is swiftly coming to an end, there is a lot of attention placed on survivors, on cures, on awareness. Today I would like you to take a minute and say a prayer for the over 821 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer today. Say another one for the women who will find out they don’t have cancer for both groups have had the same thoughts running through their minds as they await the news.

It is a lousy time –the waiting period for test results and decisions from doctors. My first results, mammogram, ultrasound, fine needle aspiration were all that I was just fine. There was, however, a tumor growing inside my left breast that didn’t take a day off while I was waiting two months to see if it would “Go away.” It didn’t and so I was finally diagnosed with an MRI. I am praying for my friend right now. Praying that this healthy woman in her early 40’s who doesn’t smoke and doesn’t have a family history of the disease will continue to not have a family history of this disease.

So take a minute, say a prayer and if it is you who is waiting…We are praying for you too.
